Letty Mejia is a student researcher currently completing her master’s degree in Social Work at California State University, Chico. She has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development from Southern Oregon University. She also has two associate’s degrees in Social Studies and Early Childhood Education from Shasta College. Letty is working with three other colleagues under the mentorship of their research professor on a qualitative research project at Chico State. As a Mexican immigrant and a first-generation college student who is aware of the education system's gaps, she believes that equitable access to education is a social justice issue.
